ESOMAR Congress, one of the most influential annual events for international marketers and researchers, will be held on September 7-10 in Nice, France. Brain Intelligence and Changyou have been invited to give a speech about their latest games research.
Games are emotionally driven experiences. Immersion theory states that the look and feel of a game determines whether or not players commit mentally and emotionally to the game world. Conversely, flow theory focuses on game mechanics and how their interplay brings players to a feeling of heightened focus. Both theories are valuable, as well as complementary. However, until now, there existed a glaring disconnect between the game elements (look and feel, mechanics) and the player’s emotional response. There was no reliable way to quantify player emotions.
Brain Intelligence presents a playability test model that allows for quantifying player emotions. It demonstrates how the method’s application to a dozen games triggers a number of Eureka moments, uncovering previously overlooked details and patterns of play, that give valuable feedback to the game developer.
That is why our CEO Roy and Changyou’s Danny, have stood out from thousands of other applicants and have been selected to speak about the results from the game research at this year’s ESOMAR Congress.
The ESOMAR Congress is the biggest must-attend event in the market research world. There are more than 40 presentations, 80+ speakers from 70+ countries, and more than a 1,000 attendees. Therefore, Roy and Danny are so excited to share their research and insights with other practitioners from around the world.
So, if you are planning to attend the Congress, please join Roy and Danny in the session entitled ‘Games as an Emotionally Driven Experience’ to be held at 2pm on September 8.
Can’t make it? No worries. You can still catch up with the presentation through the ESOMAR Congress ‘Live Stream’ service, available on their website.
Please also stay tuned for information about the latest industry development, we will bring back more news from the event!
